Preparations of the 17th European Week of Regions and Cities were officially launched yesterday with a kick-off meeting to which more than 150 partners participated.
In order to offer a platform for regions and cities to present their achievements and their specific expectations to the European Parliament (which will be newly elected this year), as well as the incoming newly constituted European Commission College, the event will be a unique opportunity to demonstrate why regions and cities must continue to be the pillars of the EU’s Future; and how cohesion policy has contributed and still contributes to smart, sustainable and inclusive growth of the EU.
After a broad online consultation (2634 respondents), the emerging top three themes for 2019 edition are:
The Future of the EU and the roles of Regions and Cities,
A Europe Closer to Citizens and,
A greener Europe
In the light of these main issues, the European Committee of the Regions and the European Commission Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy are now looking for event partners. Interested to become a partner?
